Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Communications Specialist to provide communications support for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Technical Operations Center (TOC). The Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating, editing, and distributing internal and external communications that support operational awareness, stakeholder engagement, and incident reporting. This role ensures that messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with CISA's mission, while helping leadership maintain effective communication channels with employees, partners, and stakeholders.

This position is fully on-site at one of the following locations:

  • 4601 Fairfax Dr., Arlington, VA 22203 (Ballston)
  • 1110 N Glebe Rd., Arlington, VA 22201 (Glebe)
  • 4200 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203 (Wilson)
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and distribute communications including status updates, reports, presentations, newsletters, and talking points for leadership.
  • Coordinate with TOC staff and contractors to collect incident data, performance metrics, and service updates for inclusion in reports and stakeholder briefings.
  • Support incident communications by preparing and delivering timely updates during major or priority events.
  • Maintain communication templates and ensure consistency in messaging across various channels.
  • Organize and support teleconferences, stakeholder meetings, and other communication forums.
  • Track communication effectiveness and recommend improvements for message clarity and impact.
  • Support knowledge management activities, including the preparation of training materials, FAQs, and user guides.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex IT issues into clear, actionable communications for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline and modernize communication processes.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable suitability determination (Public Trust background investigation).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Information Technology, or a related field (additional experience may substitute for a degree).
  • ITIL 4 certification preferred; professional communications certifications desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, collaboration platforms, and communication tools. Familiarity with IT operations and service desk environments a plus.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, editing, and organizational skills; ability to adapt messages for technical and non-technical audiences; proven experience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Federal experience (preferred).
