Job Title: Project Manager Functional Focus (Financial Services)
Location: Hamilton, NJ or New York City, NY (Day 1 Onsite / Locals only)
Experience: 10- 12 Years (Only)
Type: Contract
Note: Candidates should have 11+ years of experience, mostly on Functional Orientation and coming from Financial or banking experience in the recent projects, LinkedIn created before 2019.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Project Manager with a strong functional orientation and a background in technology who has transitioned into functional project management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial services including investment banking, trading, or asset management and a track record with one of the Big 5 consulting firms (E&Y, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, Accenture).
This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage client presentations, drive deliverables, track project timelines, and hold stakeholders accountable. We are looking for someone energetic, proactive, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead functional project management activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors.
Manage project plans, timelines, and milestones; monitor progress and escalate issues as needed.
Prepare and deliver professional client presentations.
Track deliverables, chase down pending items, and ensure accountability across teams.
Support governance processes, project reporting, and documentation.
Ensure that risks and dependencies are identified, documented, and mitigated in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Experience
10 12 years of professional experience, with at least 5+ years in project management.
Strong financial services background (investment banking, trading, asset management, etc.).
Experience with one of the Big 5 consulting firms (E&Y, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, Accenture).
Prior technical experience, with successful transition into functional PM responsibilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects in a hybrid environment.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and willingness to put in extra effort when required.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, Prince2, or other relevant PM certifications.
Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall project delivery methods.
Familiarity with capital markets systems, trade lifecycle, or investment platforms.
