Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable FHIR-based APIs and services for healthcare data exchange.
- Lead integration efforts with EHR/EMR systems, health information exchanges (HIEs), and third-party platforms.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define technical requirements and architecture.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, ONC, and CMS interoperability mandates.
- Optimize performance, security, and reliability of FHIR implementations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in interoperability and API development.
- Stay current with FHIR specifications, implementation guides, and industry trends.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on FHIR.
- Strong understanding of HL7 standards, including FHIR R4, CDA, and v2.
- Experience with SMART on FHIR, OAuth2, and healthcare identity management.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, .NET, Node.js).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with major EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, etc.).
- Knowledge of US healthcare ecosystem, including payer-provider workflows.
- Contributions to open-source FHIR projects or participation in HL7 working groups.
- Certification in FHIR or related interoperability standards.
