Description

Engineer, plan, create and execute Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of passenger vehicle (passenger car, truck and sport utility vehicle) engine casting components including cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, lower crank cases (LCC), lower crank extensions (LCE), main bearing caps, cylinder liners, valve seats, valve guides, cam ladders and cam caps including structural and system deflection, to meet structural and performance (thermal, distortions, durability, sealing, stiffness, and mass) requirements in Bills of Design (BOD) at virtual design assessment gates, using Abaqus, HyperMesh, SimLab, Fe-Safe, Inspect, Tosca, iSight and Unigraphics tools. Define Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for component level analysis and system level analysis, using both linear and nonlinear materials properties including material plasticity and variable fatigue property material models. Attend physical tests and tear downs and correlate CAE and finite element (FE) simulation results to physical test. Coordinate with Technical Specialists (hardware and virtual) Design Release Engineer (DRE) and analysis requestor to assess new analysis feasibility and establish required inputs for execution and desired outputs to be reported.
