Oracle Retail Insights Analytics Engineer, focusing heavily on the hands-on implementation experience.

Oracle Retail Insights Analytics Engineer

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Analytics Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our reporting and business intelligence solutions using Oracle Retail Insights Cloud Service (RICS). The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business needs (Merchandising, Inventory, Finance) and technical execution, translating complex retail data requirements into scalable and high-performance analytical solutions within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) ecosystem. This role is central to driving data-driven decision-making across our retail enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementation & Configuration (Primary Focus): Lead and execute the end-to-end implementation lifecycle of Oracle Retail Insights Cloud Service (including Merchandising Insights and Customer Insights), from initial configuration and environment setup in OCI through to deployment.
  • Data Modeling & ETL: Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes using tools like Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or OCI Data Integration to load and transform data from Oracle Retail source systems (e.g., RMFCS, POS) into the RICS data warehouse.
  • Semantic Layer Development: Customise and extend the pre-built semantic model (RPD/Physical, Business Model, and Presentation Layers) within Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) or Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) to align with custom business metrics and reporting needs.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Develop, optimize, and maintain complex reports, dashboards, and data visualizations within Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) for key retail stakeholders (Buyers, Planners, Executives).
  • Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to data load times, complex SQL queries, and dashboard rendering, ensuring optimal user experience and report delivery speed.
  • Business Collaboration: Partner with Merchandising, Planning, and Finance teams to gather, document, and translate business KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and analytical use cases into technical design specifications.
  • Testing & Support: Conduct rigorous testing of the analytical solution, including data validation, security (Row-Level Security/RLS) implementation, and provide Tier 3 production support for the deployed RICS environment.

Required Technical Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, or Analytics Engineering, with a focus on the retail industry.
  • 5+ years of hands-on, end-to-end implementation experience with Oracle Retail Insights Cloud Service (RICS) or previous versions of Oracle Retail Data Warehouse (RDW)/Retail Insights.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL for data analysis, complex query writing, and procedural development.
  • In-depth experience with the Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) platform, specifically RPD modeling, creating Data Visualizations (DV), and managing the Presentation layer.
  • Proven experience with data integration tools used in the Oracle Retail ecosystem (e.g., Oracle Data Integrator/ODI, OCI Data Integration).
  • Solid understanding of the data model and business process flows for core Oracle Retail applications (e.g., RMFCS/RMS, RPAS, Allocation).
  • Experience implementing security and data governance standards, including role-based access control and Row-Level Security (RLS) within OAC/RICS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Oracle AI Foundation Cloud Service and leveraging embedded AI/ML models for retail use cases (e.g., demand forecasting).
  • Familiarity with OCI services related to analytics (e.g., Autonomous Data Warehouse, OCI Object Storage).
  • Experience with other retail BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for supplemental visualization needs.
