Vaco is actively seeking an Workday HCM & Payroll Advisor to support our client’s continued growth. This is a unique consulting opportunity to join an internationally respected non-profit organization that is a proven leader in their field.


Position Overview

The Senior Advisor will lead the strategy, configuration, testing, release management, data security, and implementation of Workday HCM modules with a strong focus on Workday Payroll (US).  Expertise across additional modules such as Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, and Contingent Worker is a plus.

This role is critical to ensuring that one of the country’s largest nonprofit organization’s HR technology ecosystem is scalable, secure, and aligned to organizational goals while delivering a seamless experience for employees and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday HCM and Payroll, ensuring alignment with business requirements, compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee Workday Payroll configuration, testing, and validation to ensure accurate processing, compliance with US payroll regulations, and successful vendor integrations.
  • Provide leadership in extending capabilities across various modules including Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, and Contingent Workforce; integrating with HCM and Payroll for end-to-end process efficiency.
  • Act as the lead advisor on bi-annual Workday releases, evaluating new functionality, developing test strategies, and advising Employee Experience and stakeholders on impacts.
  • Direct Workday integrations with internal and external systems, ensuring secure data flows, stability, and performance. Maintain and enhance Workday’s security model and compliance with data privacy standards.
  • Define test strategies and oversee testing phases, ensuring all modules and integrations function as expected prior to migration into Production.
  • Audit and improve Workday foundational elements including organizational structure, job architecture, integrations, security, and data hygiene. Establish controls and processes to maintain data accuracy, compliance, and privacy.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional leaders and stakeholders, translating business needs into system solutions, providing training and guidance, and ensuring seamless adoption.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve employee experience using Workday capabilities and best practices.
  • Support system documentation, data lifecycle planning, and business continuity strategies.


Qualifications:
  • 7 years experience with Workday including implementations, enhancements, configurations, and system optimization.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects with program management expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday HCM Core and Payroll plus experience with Recruiting, Contingent Worker, security, business process design, reporting, and integrations.
  • Experience delivering training and change management strategies to drive successful adoption of Workday functionality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence and build consensus across diverse groups.
