Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Application Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in managing AMI applications, with a strong background in database programming, SQL, data warehousing, and big data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system, ensuring its smooth operation and optimal performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain database solutions to support AMI data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Manage SQL databases and queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the AMI system.
  • Design and optimize data warehousing solutions for efficient storage and retrieval of large volumes of meter data.
  • Implement and manage data security measures to protect sensitive customer information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Integrate Manual Meter Reading Application for non-transmitting AMI meters with Billing Interface
  • Provide support for mobile apps and devices for AMI related applications.
  • Experience with automation using PowerShell and Python
  • Proficient with IT Change Management Process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and customer service, to support AMI-related initiatives and projects.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in AMI, database programming, and big data management to continuously improve system capabilities and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff members and end-users on AMI system administration and usage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in administering AMI applications or similar systems in a utility or related industry, preferably a water utility
  • Proficiency in database programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, or T-SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience with big data management tools and technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency with Power Bi development / reporting
  • Familiarity with AMI hardware and communication protocols (e.g., AMI meters, MTUs, RF mesh networks).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data integrity and security.
