Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly technical Senior Project Manager to lead the complete lifecycle of our VMware Cloud Foundation 9 (VCF 9) implementation, from initial concept (inception) through successful delivery and transition to operations. The ideal candidate will possess deep project management expertise, a proven track record of managing complex cloud infrastructure projects, and hands-on knowledge of the VCF platform architecture and its components (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, SDDC Manager, VCF Operations). This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage cross-functional teams, external vendors, and executive-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

• End-to-End Project Management: Own and manage the full project lifecycle for the VCF 9 implementation, including project charter, scope definition, detailed work breakdown structure (WBS), resource planning, and execution across multiple phases (design, build, migration, and go-live).
• Methodology: Employ a hybrid methodology (e.g., Agile/Scrum for technical delivery and Waterfall for overall program governance) to ensure project timelines, budget, and scope are met.
• Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all VCF 9 project stakeholders, including technical teams, business leaders, vendors, and executive sponsors.
• Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, analyze, document, and mitigate project risks and dependencies across all VCF components, hardware, and networking prerequisites.
• Financial Management: Manage and report on project budget, tracking expenditures, and ensuring all project activities align with financial forecasts and organizational goals.

Technical Oversight & VCF-Specific Tasks:

• VCF 9 Planning & Design: Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to validate the low-level design, ensuring the VCF 9 deployment (Management Domain, Workload Domains, networking with NSX, and storage with vSAN) aligns with organizational and technical requirements.
• Implementation Governance: Oversee the execution of VCF 9 deployment steps, including the use of the VCF Installer, configuration of VCF Operations/Fleet Management, and enablement of core features like Tanzu/Kubernetes and vDefend.
• Migration Strategy: Lead the planning and execution of workload migration from existing environments into the new VCF 9 platform, minimizing downtime and business impact.
• Quality Assurance: Define and manage the quality assurance and testing phase, including performance testing, security compliance checks, and operational readiness verification.

• Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI): Manage the integration and deployment onto underlying HCI solutions (e.g., Dell VxRail, HPE GreenLake, or certified hardware).

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• 5+ years of experience managing complex IT infrastructure or cloud platform implementation projects as a Senior Project Manager.
• Demonstrable hands-on project management experience with a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) implementation (preferably VCF 9 or a major version upgrade/deployment).
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional project teams (Infrastructure, Network, Security, Application, and PMO).
• Expertise in project planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps) and collaboration software.

Technical & Certifications:

• PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification (e.g., PRINCE2, CSM).
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts (private/hybrid cloud) and data center virtualization.
• Familiarity with the core components of VCF: vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T/NSX, and SDDC Manager/VCF Operations.
• Knowledge of networking and storage concepts related to VCF deployment (e.g., MTU, VLANs, software-defined storage/networking).

Soft Skills:

• Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical executive audiences.
• High level of commercial awareness, with demonstrated experience managing vendor contracts and project financials.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate project teams to achieve successful delivery under pressure.
