Job Description
The Sensor Innovation Portfolio within the Defense Sector is seeking a talented Radar Signal Processing Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. We have offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. This position within Leidos' Sensor Innovation Portfolio affords new or experienced engineers continued opportunities to learn and grow in technical knowledge of sensor and radar systems. The department encourages and frequently incorporates new ideas from all employees into our many sensor projects which span the entire DoD ecosystem. Opportunities for advancement into senior technical roles, as well as project or personnel management are also available.
Primary Responsibilities
The role will support Advanced Technology Radar and EW programs including research and development of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms; high-fidelity radar and RF modeling, simulation, and analysis; integration and field testing of RF sensors and systems; and CONOCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems. The Engineer in this role is expected to quickly immerse into radar and sensor phenomenology and our existing tools and models to begin contributing to new features.
A variety of tasks related to signal processing, measurement tracker processing, system performance metrics, sensor simulation, or utility tools as part of larger efforts or customer goals will be assigned. In this role, your organizational skills will be paramount and managing multiple tasks while ensuring the work remains compatible with the group's larger codebases.

Basic Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field from an ABET accredited college or university.
The candidate must have experience in the following areas:
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background.
- Must have math skills and/or possess and show good fundamentals in one or more of the following:
- Signals and systems
- Digital signal processing
- Tracking algorithms
- Electromagnetics
- Should be able to apply one or more of these skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding, evaluating, and implementing published scientific literature from sources such as IEEE is highly valued.
- Experience working with Matlab, Python, or similar scientific-based programming tools to implement math or scienced based phenomenology related to linear systems, digital signal processing, tracking, or electromagnetics are valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
- Further experience in high performance computing languages such as C++ is highly valued.
- Experience in development or operations of radar resource management, radar tracking algorithms, or radar HWILs is highly valued.
- Experience in the analysis of sensor systems and subsystems, with a thorough understanding of technology focused DoD organizations and their missions.
