Title: SAP Payroll Lead


Location: Remote with limited travel

We are seeking an experienced SAP US Payroll Functional Lead Consultant to join our team for a dynamic SAP carve-out project. The successful candidate will leverage deep expertise in SAP US Payroll to support system separation, process optimization, and seamless payroll operations during the transition. This role requires strong collaboration skills, hands-on SAP configuration experience, and a solid understanding of carve-out complexities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the SAP US Payroll workstream as part of a larger carve-out initiative, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and continuity of payroll processes.
  • Gather business requirements by collaborating with HR, payroll, and IT stakeholders from both parent and carved-out entities.
  • Design and configure SAP US Payroll to support new organizational structures and integration points resulting from the carve-out.
  • Analyze, document, and implement payroll-related business processes to ensure legal compliance and high operational standards.
  • Migrate payroll data securely and accurately from the legacy system to the new SAP environment, ensuring data integrity throughout.
  • Coordinate and conduct testing (SIT, user acceptance) for all SAP US Payroll modules impacted by the carve-out.
  • Provide guidance and support for payroll period end and year-end activities, tax reporting, and wage type configuration as needed for the new entity.
  • Document functional specifications and collaborate closely with technical teams.
  • Identify risks and proactively resolve issues related to payroll processes and system configuration during the separation.
  • Work within project timelines and participate in regular status meetings, providing updates and recommendations to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in SAP US Payroll functional consulting, including configuration and support.
  • Proven experience in SAP carve-out, divestiture, or similar transformation projects, with a focus on US payroll.
  • In-depth understanding of US payroll processes, legal requirements, tax regulations, wage types, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP HCM, particularly Payroll (PY-US), and related modules (Time Management, Personnel Administration).
  • Experience with data migration tools and methodologies, as well as payroll testing and validation strategies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
