Description
We are looking for a Web Accessibility Consultant to join our team and support our client in ensuring their website and digital content meet federally mandated accessibility standards. In this long-term contract position, you will play a critical role in identifying accessibility gaps, implementing remediation strategies, and embedding accessibility into ongoing workflows and processes. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams while driving compliance and accessibility improvements.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed audits of websites, web applications, and digital content to identify accessibility issues.
Document findings and provide actionable recommendations based on accessibility standards.
Collaborate with developers, designers, and communications staff to integrate accessibility into design and publishing workflows.
Develop and execute remediation strategies for documents and web content to meet compliance requirements.
Provide training sessions and guidance to staff on accessibility best practices and tools.
Utilize accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies to ensure accurate evaluation and remediation.
Maintain thorough documentation of processes and solutions to support long-term accessibility compliance.
Offer expertise on web development, user experience design, and digital content remediation in alignment with accessibility guidelines.
Work with stakeholders to align accessibility goals with broader organizational objectives.
Stay updated on evolving accessibility standards and tools to continuously enhance compliance efforts.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1.
Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and SharePoint workflows.
Experience in web development, user experience design, or digital content remediation.
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools like Siteimprove and assistive technologies such as screen readers.
Ability to identify and resolve accessibility issues in web content and applications.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and guide non-technical staff.
Detail-oriented approach to documenting findings and implementing solutions.
Capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
