Job Details

Location: Austin, TX
Salary: $160,000.00 USD Annually - $200,000.00 USD Annually
Description:

Join a global industrial-electrification manufacturer driving innovation in medium-voltage (MV) variable-frequency drives, multi-megawatt electric machines, and high-power DC fast-charging systems. You will set technical strategy, own product roadmaps, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization through full life-cycle new-product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute 3- to 5-year technology and product roadmaps for MV drives, large rotating machines, and high-power chargers.
  • Direct a 40-60-person global team (electrical, mechanical, controls, firmware, manufacturing) and mentor functional leaders.
  • Manage R&D and engineering P&L, including annual budgets, capital investments, and KPI dashboards.
  • Ensure successful NPI gate reviews, certification (UL/IEC/IEEE), and production hand-off for new SiC-based drives, hairpin-wound motors, and 30-480 kW chargers.
  • Champion Lean/Six-Sigma initiatives that cut design-cycle time and defect rates.
  • Oversee intellectual-property strategy, patent filings, and university/government-funded R&D partnerships.
  • Represent engineering in customer, supplier, and regulatory forums; communicate complex trade-offs to executive leadership.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power-Electronics Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 10 + years leading product-development teams for MV drives, large electric machines, or high-power power-conversion systems.
  • Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle NPI through certification and volume production at ? 1 kV.
  • Direct management experience for multidisciplinary engineering organizations of 25 + people and associated budgets.

Preferred qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, or related field.
  • Hands-on expertise with SiC/IGBT three-level topologies, hairpin windings, and ISO 15118/UL 2202 charger compliance.
  • Track record of successful Lean/Six-Sigma or comparable continuous-improvement programs (e.g., ? 15 % cycle-time reduction).
  • Published patents or peer-reviewed papers on power electronics or large rotating machines.
  • Experience securing external funding and collaborating across global engineering centers.
