Oracle Payroll and Time & Labor Cloud Functional SME (Subject Matter Expert)

Location: Franklin, Tennessee, USA

Industry: Life Sciences (mandatory experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare)

Experience: 12-15+ years overall; 6+ years in Oracle Cloud HCM (Fusion), with expertise in both Payroll and Time & Labor modules

Employment Type: Contract

75% Travel is required at the Initial stage of the Project

Reporting: Direct interaction with the President and C-Suite executives

About the Role High-visibility strategic position with a prestigious life sciences client. Seeking an elite, independent Oracle Payroll and Time & Labor Cloud SME to act as trusted advisor to executive leadership, lead transformations across payroll and time management, and drive enterprise-wide optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary Oracle Payroll and Time & Labor Cloud expert and strategic advisor to the President and C-suite
  • Lead full-lifecycle implementations: design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support for both Payroll and Time & Labor modules
  • Architect end-to-end payroll and time management solutions, including complex elements, Fast Formulas, flows, time entry rules, approval workflows, multi-state taxation, shift differentials, and seamless integrations between Time & Labor and Payroll
  • Ensure compliance with US payroll laws, labor regulations, SOX, FDA/GxP, and life sciences-specific requirements
  • Design and configure Time & Labor components such as time card layouts, time entry profiles, rules templates, and real-time rules engine for accurate time capture, validation, and transfer to payroll
  • Design integrations with third-party systems and develop advanced reports/dashboards (OTBI, BI Publisher, HCM Extracts)
  • Present strategies, roadmaps, and ROI analyses to executives; lead steering committees
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across payroll and time & labor processes, optimize processes, and manage year-end/regulatory filings

Required Qualifications

  • Multiple full-lifecycle Oracle Cloud HCM implementations as lead/SME, with strong expertise in both Payroll and Time & Labor modules
  • Expert in configuration, Fast Formulas, payroll architecture, time & labor rules, US multi-state payroll, and integrations (OIC experience a plus)
  • Proven executive presence and direct C-suite/board interaction
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale payroll and time management (10,000+ employees preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of life sciences payroll and time complexities (e.g., clinical research compensation, shift differentials, variable scheduling)
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and independent problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; Oracle Cloud HCM Payroll and/or Time & Labor certifications highly desirable
