Position: Digital Strategist

Department: Communications

Terms of Employment: Regular Full-Time/Exempt/Local Union 2320 Position (NYCLU staff is currently working in a Hybrid model; (Will require work in the office in-person 2 days a week and as needed.)

Location: 125 Broad Street, New York, NY 10004

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Digital Strategist (Multimedia + Engagement) is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing digital content across various digital platforms. In addition to developing creative campaigns, this role includes on-camera video work, graphic design, and basic video editing for digital outputs. The position provides dedicated support to the digital team, who oversee the overall digital strategy, platforms, and content management for the NYCLU. This role reports to the Digital Director.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES


On-Camera Video Production

  • Serve as an on-camera talent for video content, presenting key messages and campaign highlights tailored for social media audiences.
  • Collaborate with the multimedia team to plan, shoot, and edit video content that engages and informs the audience.

Graphic Design

  • Produce visual content such as social media graphics, infographics, and design elements for use across digital platforms.
  • Utilize graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) to create on-brand visuals in line with content strategy.

Video Editing

  • Edit shortform video content to ensure a polished final product, incorporating sound, transitions, and on-brand graphics.
  • Utilize video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools) to produce high-quality videos for social media.
  • Work closely with the creative team to refine edits based on feedback and ensure alignment with overall campaign strategies.

Support the Digital Director and Senior Multimedia Manager

  • Work closely with the Digital Director and Senior Multimedia Manager to ensure that content, video, and graphic outputs align with the broader social media strategy.
  • Provide input on emerging digital trends and tools and contribute ideas for innovative on-camera segments and visuals.

Creative Collaboration

  • Partner with the Multimedia team and Senior Writer to produce high-quality multimedia content.
  • Collaborate with outside freelancers or influencers when needed.

Engagement and Community Building

  • Monitor social media conversations and respond to audience interactions in a timely manner as needed.
  • Develop strategies to grow online communities and boost engagement.

Performance Analysis

  • Use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and platform-specific insights) to track content, video, and graphic performance.
  • Adjust strategies based on data-driven insights and emerging digital trends.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in digital strategy with a focus on content creation, on-camera video work, and basic graphic design.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and scheduling tools.
  • Basic video production skills, including on-camera presence and editing fundamentals.
  • Competency in basic graphic design, with familiarity in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
  • Knowledge of SEO and content optimization best practices.
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to emerging digital trends.
  • Familiarity with digital analytics platforms to monitor and evaluate performance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic video production skills, including on-camera presence and editing fundamentals.
  • Experience working in a creative advocacy role.
