Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Estate Planning & Elder Law Associate Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in Estate Planning and Elder Law, with a strong commitment to serving clients through comprehensive legal counsel. As an Associate Attorney, you will work closely with our Managing Partner and a team of talented attorneys and paralegals to provide expert legal services in the areas of estate planning, Medicaid, guardianship, litigation, and asset protection.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, and other estate planning documents.
Advisory Role: Provide advice on tax strategies, Medicaid eligibility, and asset protection plans.
Estate Administration: Administer estates and trusts, including fiduciary accounting and court filings.
Tax Filing: Prepare and file Estate and Inheritance Tax Returns.
Medicaid & Spend-Downs: Manage Medicaid spend-downs, applications, and represent clients in fair hearings.
Client Advocacy: Advocate for elderly clients in various care settings, ensuring they receive the necessary legal support.
Litigation: Handle litigation related to wills, trusts, and guardianship matters.
Supervision: Supervise and guide paralegals on estate and elder law cases.
Client and Firm Representation: Represent the firm in CLE courses, networking events, and bar association activities.
Case Management: Maintain accurate case files and billing using CLIO or similar case management software.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice in New Jersey.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Estate Planning and Elder Law.
Strong legal drafting, research, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software (e.g., CLIO).
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and commitment to client service.
Preferred Skills:
Experience handling Medicaid applications and spend-downs.
Experience in estate and elder law litigation.
Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., bar associations, CLE events).
Physical & Technical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 75-100 lbs occasionally and carry up to 30 lbs.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for monitoring equipment and observing patient responses.
Clear verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and legal drafting.
