RIM Equipment Engineer


Location: Austin, TX (Onsite)


Salary range: $90k - 130k per annum

Day to day:



  • As the Injection Molding Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing equipment and processes within the plastics shop, including injection molding, robotics, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

  • On a daily basis, you will perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment issues and unplanned downtime, implementing long-term solutions using structured problem-solving tools like 8D.

  • You'll work cross-functionally with a team of engineers and technicians to scope and execute equipment integration projects from concept through commissioning.

  • You'll become a subject matter expert on shop floor equipment, providing training and technical support to peers.

  • Your role also includes developing and updating preventive maintenance documentation, and performing major equipment repairs and rebuilds.

  • In collaboration with maintenance and spare parts teams, you'll help manage inventory, return faulty components, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • You ll actively lead TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives and continuously drive process improvements based on quality concerns and customer feedback.

  • This role will call for some travel for trainings with equipment vendors and occasional weekend/holiday work to meet production needs.



Must Haves:



  • 3-5+ years of experience working as an Injection Molding Equipment Engineer

  • 3-5+ years of experience with Injection molding machines and continuous improvement best practice

  • 3-5+ years of knowledge on paint processes and robotic programming

  • 3-5+ years of experience in Fluid Dispensing equipment s

  • 3-5+ years of experience with hand and portable tools, as well as general machining and welding

  • 3-5+ years of experience with dosing machines, chemical systems, and related maintenance tasks as well as injection molding machines

    • Polyol Isocynate (Chemicals)



  • 3-5+ years of experience with dispensing systems

  • 3-5+ years of experience working with various mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

    • Electrical and hydraulic press manuals (To troubleshoot)




Plusses:



  • BS in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of paint systems

  • Experience with dispensing systems for systems processing reactive materials such as polyurethane or isocyanate resin systems
