Our confidential client is seeking a Linux Administrator to join their team following the retirement of a long-tenured employee. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to grow within a stable, collaborative environment. The role focuses on Linux system administration primarily and supporting Oracle database operations.
Summary:
- Manage and support all Linux-based systems and enterprise applications across an organization, including Oracle ERP and IBM Maximo.
- Ensure system stability and application performance while providing support to end users and teams.
- Assist with Oracle database administration and offer second-tier support for domain-specific issues.
- Install, configure, monitor, and maintain Linux servers and services in a multi-site, hybrid environment. Perform system upgrades, patching, and security hardening. Recommend solutions to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Work with Oracle Linux KVM virtualization to provision, manage, and troubleshoot virtual machines supporting Oracle database and ERP application environments.
- Provide technical support for enterprise applications, including Oracle ERP and IBM Maximo. Collaborate with application owners and end users to troubleshoot performance and integration issues. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for patching, upgrades, and configuration changes.
- Assist with Oracle database administration, including monitoring, backups, user management, and performance tuning. Manage routine database tasks.
- Assist with maintaining RedHat OpenShift clusters, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and deploying containerized applications. Work with outside contractor teams to ensure platform stability.
- Implement and maintain automation scripts and system tools to streamline routine tasks such as patching, monitoring, and deployment. Maintain system documentation, including runbooks, diagrams, and procedures.
- Manage access and security controls for Linux systems and enterprise applications. Support account provisioning and deprovisioning, ensuring compliance with internal policies and standards.
- Collaborate with other IT staff, including Windows administrators, DBA, and Service Desk personnel, to resolve cross-functional issues and maintain service continuity across platforms.
- Stay current on Linux technologies, enterprise applications trends, and system security best practices. Participate in audits and contribute to continuous improvement of IT services.
- Work closely with the Service Desk and other Operations staff to analyze problems and provide solutions in overlapping areas.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws.

- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. (Transcript must be provided.)
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Linux administration or related IT roles.
