Overview:

We are seeking a Data Analyst who will support our NYS client. The Data Analyst will need hands-on experience with PowerBI and similar tools along with a strong data modeling background. This role will support strategic decision-making across technology initiatives by designing, building, and maintaining data visualizations, dashboards, and reports. The analyst will play a critical role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency through data-driven insights.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and visual reports to monitor project performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with team members to define data requirements and reporting needs.

  • Build automated and static reports aligned with governance metrics and compliance standards.

  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across reporting tools and platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel).

  • Analyze trends, identify anomalies, and support continuous improvement of IT planning and governance processes.

  • Assist in data preparation, aggregation, and modeling to support innovation scoring and project evaluation frameworks.

  • Contribute to documentation of reporting standards, data definitions, and report usage guidelines.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence, preferably in the public sector or higher education.

  • 2+ years of experience with data modeling in large enterprise environments.

  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data modeling, transformation, and cleansing techniques.

  • Strong proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent platforms.

  • Familiarity with IT project governance, performance management, or educational data reporting is a plus.
