Job Details

Arcosa Marine Products is seeking an Engineering Apprentice for our plant location in Ashland City, TN plant. As an Industrial Engineer Apprentice you will develop products, processes, systems, services, or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques.

Arcosa's Inland Barge Group is comprised of Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.

What you'll do:

Work on assigned projects with the close supervision of mentor/supervisor/team member
Create time studies and validate savings
Work with Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Maintenance to solve problems
Create and validate procedures and work instructions
Work with our facility manager to develop preventative maintenance steps
Assist manufacturing engineers in daily production support activities
Validate Capital expenditures (CapEx) projects

What you'll need:

Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in lean, operations, manufacturing, supply chain or related engineering discipline
Must be creative, analytical, and have strong problem-solving skills
Strong Lean skills
Ability to use AutoCad for designing of jigs and fixtures
Experience in a manufacturing company is a plus
Ability to do time studies, determine ROI, and create work instructions
Strong computer and presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Professional competencies required: Learning on the Fly, Dealing with Ambiguity, Drive for Results, Organization
Design and develop products using engineering fundamentals
