Team Overview - Networking
The Client's Networking organization is hiring talented Network Development Engineers (NDE). Within Networking, the Direct Connect team delivers solutions that allow customers to establish dedicated network connections from their premises to AWS. These connections help reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and improve network consistency.
About the Role:
This role is part of the Direct Connect Network Capacity Engineering team. The team is responsible for deploying Direct Connect infrastructure globally. Engineers own large-scale deployments, automate processes, and work with stakeholders to design networks that are low-cost and efficient. You ll help invent the networks of the future, requiring a deep background in network hardware, routing protocols, and large-scale network design and deployment.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Deploy, scale, and automate networks across global datacenters (existing and greenfield).
- Scale current network designs to meet growing demand.
- Develop simple, repeatable deployment processes for velocity and quality.
- Partner with internal teams to bring network solutions from concept to production.
- Create, update, and enforce network standards.
- Implement network changes and configurations.
- Collaborate with automation teams to scale operations tools.
Must-Haves:
- 3-6 years of industry experience.
- Excellent understanding of IP networking fundamentals.
- In-depth experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Strong knowledge of router platforms (especially Cisco 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, 76xx).
- Solid network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Protocols & Technologies: DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3/OC48), VLANs/STP, IPv4/IPv6, TCP, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC/VPNs, NetFlow, DNS, HTTP.
- Data center network deployment experience.
- Python scripting and process automation.
