Business Analyst (Contract)
Location: Memphis, TN with hybrid schedule option. No relocation available Overview
We?re seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Business Analyst to join a fast-paced software development project. This is a rare opportunity to work on a greenfield ?custom business system?, partnering with both internal teams and vendor resources on a high-impact initiative. If you thrive in dynamic environments, excel at driving clarity from complexity, and are well-versed in Agile/Scrum delivery, this opportunity is designed for you.
This role is ideal for a hands-on BA who enjoys partnering closely with developers, designers, and business stakeholders, and who has a proven ability to produce well-documented requirements, user stories, and collaborate across disciplines. Responsibilities Lead the documentation of business requirements (BRDs) and translate them into detailed user stories in Jira. Conduct interviews, workshops, and process analysis to elicit functional and non-functional requirements. Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders, developers, UI/UX designers, and QA teams. Manage backlog items and ensure stories are appropriately groomed, prioritized, and ready for development. Translate complex business needs into concise functional specs while maintaining a customer-focused mindset. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives. Use tools like Miro and Figma to visualize user journeys, workflows, and wireframes as needed. Ensure traceability of requirements through testing and assist in QA planning and defect management. Monitor progress, identify roadblocks, and help remove impediments for successful sprint delivery. Required Skills 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst working on large-scale, complex software projects. 3+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments with a solid grasp of ceremonies, tools, and iterative delivery. Advanced proficiency in Jira, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration/design tools such as Miro and Figma. Experience writing BRDs, creating user stories, and managing work items through the full SDLC. Strong understanding of software development workflows, both Agile and Waterfall. Demonstrated ability to operate with a sense of urgency, stay organized, and handle shifting priorities. Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to work across technical and business teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting new software development efforts ("greenfield" projects). Exposure to e-commerce or event registration platforms. Familiarity with working alongside offshore development teams and vendor partners. Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. How to Apply
If you?re a proactive, results-driven Business Analyst who enjoys working in high-velocity environments, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume for confidential consideration. A member of our team will contact you directly if your background aligns with this exciting opportunity.
