Job Title - Workday Trainer
Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: Remote
The Client is Migrating from Banner to Workday
Project Overview:
- Currently in configuration and build
- Peggyis leading this ERP transition for the first time, including training responsibilities.
- Training needs analysisbegan four weeks ago across HR, Finance, and Payroll.
- Discussions underway around optimal delivery methods: instructor-led training, job aids, videos, etc.
- Trainer will be responsible for consolidating training needs into a training summaryand then developing the appropriate training materials.
Requirements / Must-Haves:
- Workday experiencestrongly preferred; may consider candidates with PeopleSoft, HCM, or similar ERPbackgrounds if highly qualified.
- Strong instructional design skills ability to create job aids and other learning materials.
- Deep understanding of how people learn balancing in-person demonstrations vs. video-based training.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented
- Experienced with instructor-led training both virtual and in-person, with audience sizes ranging from small groups to 100+ participants.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Approximately 80% of templatesare already in place.
- Responsible for reviewing workflows and developing training to support key changes (e.g., employees being paid on different days).
- Ensure all communications and training materials clearly explain workflow/process changes.
- Leverage existing LMS platformfor course delivery and tracking.
Essential Functions:
- In partnership with the implementation partner, the incumbent will define/refine and execute on a comprehensive training strategy for the Workday implementation, aligning with the overall change management plan and project timelines.
- Conduct thorough training needs assessments to identify target audiences, their current skill levels, and specific training requirements for different Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Payroll, Financials, Time Tracking, etc.).
- Define learning objectives, training modalities and success metrics for the training program.
- Design, develop, and update a variety of engaging and user-friendly training materials, including but not limited to:
- Instructor-led training (ILT) manuals and presentations.
- E-learning modules and interactive tutorials.
- Job aids, quick reference guides, and FAQs.
- Video demonstrations and simulations.
- Create detailed training plans, including timelines, resource allocation, content development milestones, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure that all workstream subject matter experts participate in the training process per the training plan.
- Coordinate training logistics, including scheduling, venue setup (if applicable), and participant registration.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to users during and after training sessions.
- Participate in project core team and cross-functional workstream meetings to report overall training status.
- Escalate issues to project leadership and project managers
- Work in conjunction with the change management team to promote user adoption and address resistance to change.
- Gather feedback from trainees and stakeholders and continuously improve training programs and materials.
- Communicate training progress, challenges, and successes to project leadership and key stakeholders.
- Assist with defining a detailed plan/approach for ongoing Workday training and development beyond the project go-live.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- At least 6 years of Workday implementation experience with at least 3 years experience as a training lead.
- Demonstrable experience leading training initiatives for at least one full-lifecycle Workday implementation.
- Strong understanding of adult learning methodologies and instructional design principles.
- Proficiency in developing a variety of training materials, including e-learning modules (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate), presentations, and job aids.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor training activities effectively.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable training content for diverse audiences.
