Senior Power BI / SQL Developer
Location: Onsite in Washington, DC (4 days/week)

CFSA is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI/SQL Developer to support the implementation of a new Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS). This role is part of the DevOps team and is responsible for designing and developing advanced reporting solutions, improving data quality, and supporting data conversion from legacy systems. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, deep technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate closely with social workers, technical staff, and multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze data across multiple systems to evaluate data consistency and identify data quality issues.
Lead and support CFSA s data management governance processes, including performing analysis and assisting staff with implementing recommendations.
Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, including data models and analytical features.
Collaborate with program staff to gather report requirements, develop prototypes, and work with vendors to deploy reports on the CFSA Dynamics 365 platform.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries and data joins spanning multiple tables and data sources.
Modify and create Power BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support business needs.
Conduct QA on all reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with requirements.
Manage and maintain Azure Data Services, including Synapse/Synapse Links, Azure SQL Pool, and Data Lake environments.
Support report deployment, versioning, and ongoing enhancements.
Participate in Agile development processes
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
15+ years of overall IT experience.
11+ years of hands-on SQL query development and report creation.
11+ years working within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
11+ years of MS Office/PowerPoint experience.
4+ years of advanced Power BI development experience.
2+ years of Azure Data Services experience (Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake).
2+ years working in an Agile environment.
PL/SQL experience (Highly Desired 2+ years).
Preferred Skills
Experience working with social services, human services, or government agencies.
Knowledge of data governance practices and enterprise data strategy.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Work Environment
This position requires onsite presence in Washington, DC four (4) days per week, with one optional telework day. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including social workers and technical staff, is essential.
