Job Details
Vaco is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator for a direct hire opportunity with a growing company based in Mason, Ohio.
This is a fully onsite position, five days per week. Remote work is not available.
Please note: We are not considering C2C arrangements or third-party solicitations. The client is unable to provide visa sponsorship or transfers.
The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting enterprise computer systems and business applications. The ideal candidate is a proactive IT professional who exercises discretion, makes independent decisions, and drives technology initiatives that support critical business operations.
- Lead and support capacity planning and long-term system strategy in collaboration with end users and department leaders.
- Partner with network engineering, business application, and database administration teams to implement desktop and server systems that align with organizational goals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1–3 end-user technical issues related to hardware, software, and configuration.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain servers, workstations, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and host security solutions.
- Manage and support software deployments and physical infrastructure upgrades.
- Administer end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Anticipate, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software problems; escalate as needed.
- Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles and assist with implementation efforts.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform system updates, patches, reconfigurations, and hardware/software improvements.
- Document system procedures, policies, and standards for hardware and software use, acquisition, and security.
- Conduct end-user training and develop materials related to systems usage and best practices.
- Research emerging technologies, tools, and standards to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Virtualization experience with VMware (or similar tool) and storage management.
- Administration of Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Management of Windows on-premises domains and syncing with cloud domains.
- Windows Server administration (versions 2012 through 2022 or 2025).
- Experience with Fortigate or Fortinet network/security devices is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).
- Preferred certifications: CompTIA Server+, Security+, MCSA, MCSE.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in system or network administration.
- Strong technical expertise in managing networks, PCs, operating systems, cloud technologies, and security solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and other business productivity applications.
- Hands-on experience with software/hardware troubleshooting, data management, and configuration documentation.
- Foundational cybersecurity knowledge and familiarity with data privacy regulations.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects, and support requests efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
