DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The IT - LEAD Applications (Computer-Aided Dispatch Application Support will be responsible for the support of critical applications for the Houston Emergency Center, including but not limited to the computer-Aided Dispatch System, connections to Houston Police and Fire Departments Record Management Systems, connections to mobile data computers, and connections to other business-related systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to manage highly available, redundant, large-scale systems. Additionally, the candidate will manage a support team to develop reports, custom applications, and deployment of public safety systems. The IT Lead will continue to review Next Generation 911 applications to be added to the system as required.

Must be able to obtain CJIS Certification

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.

Extended work hours may be required due to situational emergencies, such as critical systems failures or extended installation times. If designated TIER 1, the successful candidate may be required to stay at the Emergency Center during major events, such as severe storms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.

Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable.

Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

At least six (6) years of technology experience supporting applications.

A Master s degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.

PREFERENCES

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such people possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

Experience working in a Public Safety Environment or large call center.
