About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Server Engineer to join their Houston-based infrastructure team. This position will supporting a large, enterprise-scale server environment. The role focuses on building and maintaining Windows Server and VMware systems, working alongside a seasoned engineering group in Houston and a sister team in Kuala Lumpur.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly stable, well-structured environment with exposure to enterprise tooling, global collaboration, and long-term project work.
What You'll Do
  • Build and deploy new Windows servers
  • Manage and troubleshoot Windows Server, VMware vSphere/ESXi, and Active Directory
  • Support existing on-prem server infrastructure
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation (every ~1-1.5 months)
  • Contribute to automation efforts and process documentation
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and attend occasional evening meetings
Required Skills
  • Windows Server: 2016, 2019, 2022
  • VMware 7 (vSphere/ESXi)
  • Active Directory + basic GPO knowledge
  • PowerShell or similar scripting experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills
  • Nutanix virtualization
  • Linux exposure (small footprint today; growing need in future)
  • SolarWinds or similar monitoring tools
  • Automation experience (any scripting language)
  • Process documentation
  • Enterprise/corporate environment experience
Nice to Have / Trainable
  • ServiceNow (can train)
  • Broader Linux administrative knowledge
Team & Environment
  • Work onsite with 5-6 server engineers and 3 network engineers
  • Global operations model with a supporting team in Kuala Lumpur
  • Team is split into upstream and midstream; this role aligns mostly with upstream
  • Strong culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration
Work Schedule
  • Regular Hours: 7 AM-4 PM CT
  • Evening Meetings: Occasional (1-2 times/week, 1-2 hours)
  • On-Call Rotation:
  • Every ~1-1.5 months
  • One-week rotation; 12-hour shifts (6 AM-6 PM or 5 AM-5 PM during DST)
  • On-call is in addition to standard hours; additional time off provided if hours run over
