Job Description

The Principal Security Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's cybersecurity strategy, policies, and programs. This includes ensuring the protection of digital assets, sensitive data, and networks from cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of all IT systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • As a senior member of IT security team, collaborate with other departments to design, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities in the organization's IT environment.
  • Establish and maintain incident response protocols to quickly detect, respond to, and recover from cyber-attacks, data breaches, or other security incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and government regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001, and manage audits for security policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and ongoing management of security architecture, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security technologies.
  • Work closely with various Oracle Security Organization to align security strategies with business objectives and ensure the protection of the organization's critical assets.
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies and apply best practices to ensure the organization remains secure against evolving threats.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Certifications:
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certifications (preferred)

Ideal Experience:
  • 7+ years of IT experience with 3+ years of experience in security.
  • Extensive knowledge of security technologies, frameworks, and protocols (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, SIEM, encryption, identity management).
  • Experience with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS controls.
  • Strong background in security architecture and design, with expertise in securing networks, systems, virtualizations concepts, and applications.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure security.
  • Strong and hands-on experience/knowledge in the following or similar areas:
    • Automation development experience
    • Programming in Python/shell scripting
    • Development tools, language features, and library availability
    • Automation deployment and configuration management tools (Chef, Salt, Ansible, and/or Puppet, etc.)
    • Linux and virtualization
    • Git, SVN, or similar version control experience
    • SQL schema design experience with MySQL, Oracle, or Postgres
    • TCP/IP (ipv4 and ipv6) networking and related protocols
    • Multi-platform workstation - Windows/Mac/Linux
    • Agile project methodologies

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years or Masters in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, CISM, or Cloud Certified Security Specialty).
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms and incident response technologies.
  • Advanced degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
