  • Onsite This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Kansas City, Kansas a full-time basis.

    The Role

    The Safety Representative is to interface regularly and directly with the plant launch team on site, the local joint safety team, all the Central Manufacturing Engineering and Construction teams /Contractors installing new plant machinery and processes equipment. This professional should be very comfortable and capable of developing, prioritizing, and managing their own schedule to ensure that all RESS launch related tasks are implemented in accordance with the latest GM specifications. May require working some off shift hours. Participate in equipment buyoffs at OEM build sites as required. Ensure contractors are adhering to General Motors Safety practices while on the premises. This safety professional is also responsible for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, instructing, and coaching to site/functional operations. In addition, they are responsible for assisting Site Leadership with implementation, maintenance, and compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements.

    What You'll Do

    • Machinery/equipment risk assessments
    • Machinery/equipment offsite vendor visits (when required)
    • Machinery/equipment buy-off inspections
    • Research and provide technical information or direction to engineering support groups
    • Periodic monitoring and evaluation of safe work of contractors working on site
    • Integrate new process equipment into the plants safety system
    • Summarize critical issues and escalate to leadership when required for support
    • Flexible work schedule for inspections, especially during non-production down times
    • Analyzing Workplace Safety data and communicating results and trends along with continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Assessing site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements
    • Working in partnership with the local site leadership to support Workplace Safety culture
    • Developing and educating site employees to drive Workplace Safety culture

Additional Description

Your Skills and Abilities

  • BA/BS degree in safety or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • One year or more of field experience in an EHS position
  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
