Title: Application Administrator (VMware & Backup Systems Administrator)

Location: Southfield, MI

Onsite Requirement: 3 days a week with more remote flexibility after time

Terms: W2 Contract to Hire

Description

Responsible to administer, analyze, implement, monitor, and modify enterprise computer systems and applications of moderate to high complexity following internal standards, practices, and procedures. This individual will provide expert hands-on installation/setup, administration, configuration and troubleshooting with virtualization and server technologies including, VMware, vCenter, vSphere, SAN technologies and concepts. Provide expert administration of backups mostly utilizing Veeam and some other related technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • VMWare administration: installing, configuring, securing, managing and monitoring VMware vSphere clusters in data centers.
  • Install, test, upgrade, configure and conduct performance-testing, analysis for VMWare solutions.
  • Configure and manage virtual and storage environments.
  • Manage backup services (Veeam) and disaster recovery, system maintenance and user access as well as system monitoring.
  • Manage Active Directory, administer Microsoft 365, end user training, and database management.
  • Develop and Monitor system SLAs.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to enhance system performance
  • Collaborate with IT Leadership to review and analyze hardware needs; recommend upgrades.
  • Must have a good understanding of ITIL principles.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and new technology related to networking infrastructure.
  • Must adhere to all internal policies regarding ethics, standards, conduct and confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in system administration
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft and VM-Ware applications and licensing.
  • VMware Certified Specialist, Microsoft 365 Certified Expert, and/or similar certification highly preferred. Candidates without these would need to be open to pursue them.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union products and services and previous technology experience in a credit union or financial institution is desirable.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary sitting position 75% of the time. The person in the position must communicate constantly with stakeholders and vendors via telephone/electronic channels, and in person, in order to convey information of a highly technical nature. This person will constantly operate computer equipment using a keyboard, 10 touch keypads and other like office equipment to accurately calculate figures and input data. This person may reach on top of high cabinets for items and sometimes position themselves to get under desks and cabinets. The employee is often required to traverse across the office. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The team member will be required to lift or move heavy objects (approximately 25-50 lbs.). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
