Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:
Salas O'Brien is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our New York City office. In this role you will be at the forefront of energy technology- providing engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, science & technology, education, and commercial projects, leveraging the best control systems available.

Job Summary:
Salas O'Brien is searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our New York City office. In this role you will be at the forefront of energy technology- providing engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, science & technology, education, and commercial projects, leveraging the best control systems available.
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will:
- Develop the HVAC systems design of a given project based on the scope of work and/or client RFPs
- Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for healthcare, science & technology, education, and commercial projects
- Perform load/energy calculations with software such as Trace 700, Manual J, and similar programs
- Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems
- Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
- Develop HVAC sequences of operation
- Write/edit project specifications
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies
- Code compliance research
- Coordinate work with other disciplines.
- Provide construction administration services
You will be a great fit if:
- A minimum of 8-10 years of design experience
- PE License or on the path to getting your PE license
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
Skills/abilities:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
- Familiarity with building codes, standards, and design guidelines
- Excellent work ethic and attitude
- Good communication and time management skills
- Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
- Ability to lead a team as well as work as part of a team
- Mentor junior staff
