One of our clients in Los Angeles is looking for a Data Platform Engineer with the following skills and experience:


Role Overview:


As a key member of the team, you'll lead the development efforts for our cutting-edge big data and backend projects. Your role involves building and mentoring a team of skilled engineers, architecting robust data platforms, and driving innovation in cloud-based infrastructure.


Responsibilities:


Team Leadership: Build and nurture a talented team of big data and backend engineers to successfully deliver high-impact projects.


Platform Development: Spearhead the creation of components for large-scale data platforms, catering to both real-time and batch processing needs. Own the development of features for big data applications, ensuring alignment with evolving business requirements.


Infrastructure Enhancement: Lead the development of next-generation cloud-based big data infrastructure, focusing on enhancing performance, scalability, and availability.


Architectural Guidance: Strike a balance between various architectural and design considerations, including performance, scalability, reusability, and flexibility issues.


Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best engineering practices, encompassing design patterns, continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), code review, and automated testing.


Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and guide team members in their professional and technical growth, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.


Basic Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or electrical engineering.

  • 4+ years of professional programming experience in Java, Scala, Python, or similar languages.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in big data development using technologies such as Spark, Flink, Singlestore, Kafka, Nifi, and AWS big data services.

  • Proficiency in system and application design, with a focus on building industry-level, high-available, and scalable services.

  • Strong passion for technology and a willingness to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.

  • Desirable Skills:

  • Experience handling large volumes of data at the petabyte level.

  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure technologies like Terraform, Kubernetes (K8S), Spinnaker, IAM, ALB, etc.

  • Familiarity with additional big data tools and platforms such as ClickHouse, Druid, Snowflake, Impala, Presto, Kinesis, etc.

  • Exposure to popular web frameworks like SpringBoot, React.js, Vue.js, Angular, etc.
