The job description for a Server Administrator is someone with experience installing and maintaining Windows Server 2012 R2 / 2016 / 2019. Duties include participating in administrative and technical studies and reviewing the development, modification, utilization, and/or maintenance of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), mini-mainframe, server, and workstation computer users, and other systems. This includes operating systems, applications packages, network/communications systems, database management systems, utilities, and related software. The Server Administrator should possess the skills and ability to work with the following services;

  1. Active Directory Users and Computers
  2. Active Directory Sites and Services
  3. Active Directory Domains and Trusts
  4. Domain Controllers Replication, DNS, Group Policy, Domain Name Registration
  5. Database Management
  6. Learn job-related material through oral instruction, observation, and structured lecture

Essential functions for the Server Administrator are working with SAN administration such as HPE Nimble and Dell Equallogic, with storage experience with creation of Volumes/ Shares, Space/Server provisioning using RAID 6. Managing High Availability Redundancy and working with CommVault /Backup Systems.

The Server Administrator will develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures for hardware and software installations and operation. Additional experience working with

Hyper V / VMware ESxi, WUSUS / PDQ deployment, Oracle SQL agents and SQL management studio.

The Server Administrator will be responsible in providing support for Windows Remote Desktop Service and workstation provisioning through the use of Windows Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.
