Job Description

About Lockheed Martin Space:

Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security, and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more - we can innovate, invest, inspire, and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.

At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we're reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.

Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you

About the Team:
Defending against modern missile threats on the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program requires constant collaboration and innovation. We integrate systems end to end to detect, control, and engage threats across every domain, investing in technologies like directed energy, space-based capabilities, and solid-state radar to create layers of defense.

Shooting a missile down with a missile was once science fiction. We've made it a reality. Spotting enemy launches, identifying targets, calculating trajectories, launching interceptors, and guiding them to destroy threats-all within seconds-is complex work. Our culture supports bold ideas, technical excellence, and building a safer future.

About the Role:
As a GNC Sr Engineer, you will join the Simulation and Performance team on the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program.

In this role, you will:
Design, analyze, and optimize GN&C subsystem dynamics and control systems using MATLAB/Simulink, C++, and Python.
Develop, verify, and integrate high-fidelity simulation models into 6-DOF C++ simulations, Matlab/Simulink environments, and Linux-based HPC or VM systems.
Modify and build code in C++, C, Python, Fortran, Matlab/Simulink, Linux shell, and YAML, and create unit tests to ensure model and software quality.
Support system integration, test, and verification activities to confirm subsystem performance meets program requirements.
Work in an Agile DevOps environment leveraging Docker, containerization, and Kubernetes deployments.
Collaborate with performance analysts, flight software teams, and customers throughout the program life cycle, including mission operations and post-launch performance assessments.

Successful applicants generally have at least 3+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline, such as Aerospace Engineering or other related field.
