As part of a 24x 7 team, the ideal candidate will come with experience in operations, and be able to assist our team in the development of new tools to monitor the health of critical systems including SQL and Oracle databases, and hardware operations on a broad range of platforms.
Candidate will monitor system health, perform software maintenance functions, run ad-hoc and scheduled jobs written by others, initiate IPL restarts, and assist with system and data restores. Use and knowledge of system command line functions will be common in this role. Candidate will follow instructions to troubleshoot failing computer processes, document and escalate system failures as needed. Must be able to work on Windows, Hewlett Packard UNIX, IBM RS6000-AlX, IBM AS400, Linux and other platforms.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with Solar Winds platform and assist in both training staff in its use and developing new monitoring protocols and dashboards. Familiarity with Service Now, StruxureWare and Vigilent Cooling Optimize tools are a plus. Familiarity with tape storage and retrieval process is also a plus.
This team is also responsible for paycheck and check advice printing for weekly and biweekly payroll, as well as ad-hoc check printing, production of W2 forms, and other specialized print jobs on high end Client and other printers. Ability to bend to floor and lift up to 25 pounds to move checks and check stock is required.
Primary work location will be 130 Livingston street and the Long Island Rail Road station building in Jamaica Queens. Other locations in NYC as needed buy the business.
Training will generally take place Monday to Friday 8a to 4p, but the candidate may be assigned to other days and shifts, as needed, following a training period, which is projected at 2 months, and ill be adjusted as needed.
