Description
SAIC is seeking an organized and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer in Middletown, RI who will work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring a variety of mechanical designs from the early concept stage all the way through fabrication.
Job Duties:
- Design mechanical systems for underwater applications, custom data acquisition systems, and automated test hardware for land-based testing of naval systems.
- Create fabrication drawings of all hardware. Create technical data package for systems and control configuration management of the drawings.
- Tasking will include project management of products assigned, including resource management, scheduling, inventory management and quality assurance of products.
- Work directly with vendors and manufacturers of mechanical systems and custom assemblies to ensure on time and sufficient deliverables.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities.
- Must be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion.
- Ability to interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan and report status.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more related experience.
- Experience with engineering design, modeling, and drawing development in SolidWorks.
- Experience creating technical data package quality drawings using GD&T
- Project management experience preferred.
