Job Description

ECS is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to work in our Arlington, VA office.

ECS is looking for a Principal Architect who is passionate about driving innovation through technical maturity and enterprise transformation.

The Principal Architect will be a member of a highly technical team and will play a key role in merging technical, business, and customer needs into achievable objectives and driving the completion of those objectives. As an expert in delivering technical projects, the Principal Architect will identify challenges and improvements to process, organizational practices, technical innovation, and culture.

Strong candidates will have a track record of identifying strategic improvement opportunities, creating interest and buy-in, and executing on their vision. They will have experience in highly advanced and diverse t echnical environments and be willing to roll up their sleeves and drive the technology forward.

Responsibilities :
  • Provide thought leadership with internal team and to drive technical solutions, improve organizational practices, and strengthen culture.
  • Utilize a deep understanding of cloud technologies, services, platforms, and product selection/integration to tie into broader business strategies for projects.
  • Building solutions that make use of data to improve business insights, help with operational decisions, and support performance management
  • Serve as technical lead engineering solutions that integrate capabilities like: application development, data management, data analysis and AI, operations, cloud, and cyber security
  • Maintain high performing teams, and mentor individuals, to achieve excellent results throughout the design, build, deployment, and operations phases of the technical solution delivery lifecycle
  • Help business, solution design, and technology stakeholders work together to achieve results
  • Lead the definition, design, development, implementation, and operation of complex enterprise solutions
  • Support Business Development efforts through maturing strategic solution ideas and aligning them with customer needs


Required Skills

  • able to obtain government clearance
  • 10+ years of planning, designing, building, and operating solutions
  • Experience deploying scalable solutions with automation, infrastructure, and containerization tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, or Docker
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience designing, scaling, and automating AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Azure offerings, including multi-cloud solutions
  • Understanding technical delivery tools like source code management, agile management, data analysis and dashboarding, and ticket management.
  • Proven success in consulting and advising customers, able to navigate conflicts between key stakeholders
  • Able to be entirely hands-on when needed


Desired Skills

  • Experience with the following technologies: Git, Python, PowerShell, Bash
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience supporting federal contracts
  • Confronts difficult problems in a positive and creative way
  • Communicates clearly and effectively evaluates information to make decisions
  • Anticipates risks and obstacles and develops plans for mitigation
  • Balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space.
  • Cradle to grave migration to the cloud environment
