This position reports to

R&D Team Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide test engineering support during new product development, customer demonstrations, and validation and verification programs, for ABB Power Protection products. The work model for the role will be onsite in Richmond, VA. #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in North America. You will be mainly accountable for: Supporting new product development test programs and product lifecycle validation initiatives. Defines and executes system and subsystem level test plans. Analyzes test results and prepares test reports in partnership with research and technology teams. Moves, connects, and installs units under test and executes electrical test programs. Subject matter expert in system level testing on complex/specialized projects, thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working in a research and development setting
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and detailed electrical schematics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in system level testing on power protection is preferred
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
