RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Electronic Design Engineer in Lakewood, CO. Our Calibration Solutions portfolio uses the principles of advanced metrology to enable customers to measure and calibrate critical parameters in applications such as Environmental and Process Monitoring, Dialysis, Gas Flow, Air Quality, and Torque Testing.
Summary:
The Senior Electronic Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing advanced electronic systems, including system architecture, component selection, circuit design, and integration of complex subsystems. This role requires expertise in both analog and digital design, PCB layout, and systems-level engineering. You will lead the development of innovative electronic products, optimize existing systems, and mentor junior engineers. As a Senior Electronic Design Engineer, you will manage projects from initial concept through to production, ensuring that designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives while complying with regulatory standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Advanced Circuit Design and System Architecture:
* Lead the design and development of analog and digital circuits, power systems, and signal processing subsystems for complex products
* Define system-level architecture and component selection for electronic systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability
* Develop and validate circuit designs, from initial concept through simulation, prototyping, testing, and integration
* Design and implement complex control systems, including microcontrollers, DSPs (digital signal processors), and FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), as required for product functionality
PCB Design and Layout Oversight:
* Lead and mentor the PCB design process, ensuring that layouts are optimized for signal integrity, manufacturability, and thermal management
* Review and approve PCB designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IPC-2221) and internal design guidelines
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic circuit design, PCB layout, and system-level integration
* Strong experience with PCB design and layout software (e.g., Altium, Eagle, KiCad, Mentor Graphics)
* Strong hands-on experience in circuit-level troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other bench tools to diagnose and resolve complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal hardware issues
* Experience using IDEs such as STM32CubeIDE, MPLAB X, or Atmel Studio; toolchains like GCC and IAR
* Experience with high-speed, high-voltage, and mixed-signal circuit design is a plus
* Expertise in analog and digital signal processing, microcontroller and FPGA programming, and embedded system design
* Solid understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal design considerations
* Knowledge of wireless communication technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) and IoT systems is desirable
* Familiarity with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or CMSIS-RTOS for task scheduling and peripheral management
* Proficient in electronic design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, LTSpice, MATLAB, PSpice)
* Proficient in reading and writing basic firmware for microcontrollers/microprocessors (e.g., ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR), including experience with C/C++ programming for hardware bring-up, peripheral configuration, and debugging via JTAG/SWD tools
* Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, results-oriented attitude
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
Kforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran status, or disability status.
