- This position is onsite at Robins Air Force Base (AFB) in Warner Robins, GA.
- Clearance: Active DoD Secret (with the ability to obtain and maintain special access)
Overview & Responsibilities
This is a high-visibility, hands-on modeling and simulation (M&S) role within the AMRAAM Program Office at Warner Robins Air Force Base. You will be the government's subject matter expert (SME) responsible for operating and leveraging a dedicated, on-site simulation environment (e.g., Hardware-in-the-Loop/HIL, Software-in-the-Loop/SIL). Your core mission is to conduct complex "what-if" operational analysis. You will simulate air-to-air scenarios to validate new Operational Flight Program (OFP) builds, analyze the impact of hardware changes from the depot line, and evaluate system performance against emerging threats. The data and analysis you provide are fundamental to the program's strategic planning, risk reduction, and systems engineering framework. You will
- Lab & Environment Management: Operate, configure, and maintain the government's dedicated AMRAAM simulation environment. Integrate new and updated software models (OFPs), hardware components, and threat models into the simulation framework.
- Scenario Design & Execution: Design, develop, and execute complex, high-fidelity simulation scenarios to test the full spectrum of missile performance. Conduct rigorous "what-if" analysis to assess system performance, evaluate potential failure modes, and validate corrective actions under diverse operational conditions.
- Verification, Validation, & Risk Reduction: Serve as the primary simulation expert for the V&V (Verification and Validation) of all new OFP software builds before they are fielded. Model and analyze the system-level impact of hardware changes, repairs, and DMSMS resolutions originating from the production engineering team.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, process, and perform deep-dive analysis on large sets of complex simulation data. Translate raw simulation data into clear, actionable insights and technical recommendations for the OFP Software, Production, and Systems Engineering teams. Prepare and present technical briefings to program leadership on findings, risks, and performance trade-offs.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance. Must be eligible for, and consent to, processing for "special access" program eligibility.
- AMRAAM Experience: A non-negotiable minimum of three (3) years of direct experience with AMRAAM M&S, hardware, OFP, or systems engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, Systems), Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar.
- Direct, hands-on experience with high-fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation environments.
- Strong understanding of missile systems, aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), and/S-or RADAR principles.
- Proven experience with M&S tools and environments, including scenario scripting and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with M&S software and languages such as MATLAB/Simulink, C++, Python, or FORTRAN.
- Direct experience with AMRAAM-specific operational or engineering-level simulation models.
- Expertise in data analysis, post-processing, and visualization.
- Previous experience in a DoD Verification and Validation (V&V) or T&E (Test & Evaluation) role.
