PAY RATE: $40 PER HOUR

Title: RF Communications Field Technician (3 7 Years Experience)

Location: New York City (5 Boroughs) 100% Onsite

Duration: Temp-to-Hire (6 Months)

Vehicle: Must have valid license ( 5 points); personal vehicle use until Client vehicle is assigned (mileage reimbursed)

Physical Requirements: Lift up to 25 lbs

Drug Test: Full panel required (Safety-Sensitive Role)

Training Duration: 3 weeks before independent work

Interview: 1-hour onsite interview

Position Overview

This role supports mission-critical public safety communications systems, focusing on diagnosing and resolving RF interference and wireless communication issues. The technician will work directly with customers across NYC to maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot LMR, LTE, GPS, and other wireless systems vital to emergency response operations.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve RF interference and wireless communication disruptions.

Perform field installation, maintenance, and service of RF and IT network equipment.

Troubleshoot radio/cellular coverage issues and base station/repeater connectivity.

Identify and mitigate illegal jamming and other interference sources.

Provide technical guidance to public safety agencies on RF interference response.

Maintain and optimize RF and broadband systems, including software-driven electronics.

Perform server hardware/software maintenance and network troubleshooting.

Use diagnostic tools (e.g., spectrum analyzers, watt meters, FDRs) for system testing.

Document maintenance activities and provide weekly performance reports.

Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Project Management teams.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree In an IT related Field and 3 7 years of experience in RF communications, wireless systems, or related fields.

Strong understanding of RF interference, LMR, LTE, GPS, and wireless technologies.

Proficiency in computer networking (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls).

Hands-on experience with Client communications systems and diagnostic tools.

Electronics training (2 years technical trade/military school) + 2 years field experience.

Strong communication, self-management, and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and respond to after-hours service calls.

Preferred Skills

Experience with P25 systems and Client two-way radios.

Familiarity with analog Client equipment and legacy LMR systems.

Background in wired/wireless communication systems (public safety or commercial).

Knowledge of public safety operations and emergency communication protocols.

Must-Have Qualifications: Technical and computer skills, IP Base programs, such as Putty, remote access, Anritsu, t1 testing, backhaul, works independently

Software Proficiency: Putty, WinSCP, Anritsu, t1 testing

Required Experience Level: Midlevel

Work Environment: Provide the type of work environment. Must live in New York City 5 boroughs , which are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island North Jersey area, On-Call , must live in close proximity to work area due to critical communications response time

Safety-Sensitive Functions: The full drug panel drug test is requested., Background check, driving, driving records in good standing,

Lifting Requirements: 60lbs

Department Function: Field Service Operations, Break/fix, Upgrades

Security Checks: Once on board they will have to do CJIS

Training: 1 month
