This position requires candidates to be onsite 5 days a week.
JD:

TxDOT work to be accomplished TxDOT ITD division is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer with expertise in both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure to join our cloud infrastructure team.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions that are scalable, secure, and resilient across both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
  2. Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  3. Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using native and third-party tools.
  4. Ensure best practices in security, compliance, and cost optimization across both cloud environments.
  5. Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native applications.
  6. Set up and manage virtual networks, VPNs, security groups, IAM roles/policies, load balancers, and storage accounts.
  7. Troubleshoot cloud service issues and performance bottlenecks.
  8. Participate in cloud migration initiatives, hybrid-cloud setups, and disaster recovery planning.
  9. Maintain cloud documentation, operational runbooks, and diagrams.
Minimum Yrs of Experience, Skills, and Qualifications Years Skills/Experience
  • 3 Hands-on experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • 1 Strong understanding of cloud networking, security controls, and identity/access management in both environments.
  • 1 Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
  • 1 Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation.
  • 1 Familiar with monitoring/logging tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Zenoss, and Splunk.
  • 1 Hands-on experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS/EKS).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications Years Skills/Experience
  • 1 Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect Associate, or equivalent.
  • 1 Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises integration
  • 1 Knowledge of cloud cost management tools (e.g., Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer).
  • 1 Familiarity with DevSecOps and cloud compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, SOC 2).
