Are you an experienced SQL DBA with a passion for both robust infrastructure and elegant T-SQL solutions? Do you have a proven track record of at least 5 years in a hands-on database role, ready to tackle complex development challenges? We're a forward-thinking 3PL provider leveraging cutting-edge technology to enable seamless logistics and shipping, and we're looking for a seasoned professional to join our team.


This is a dynamic, hybrid role with a balanced focus, roughly 50/50 between SQL Database Administration and SQL Development. You'll be instrumental in both maintaining the health of our database infrastructure and developing high-performance T-SQL logic. We're seeking someone who isn't just learning, but who brings significant, practical experience to the table.

responsibilities:

What You'll Do: Infrastructure & Server Maintenance


You'll be critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our database environment. This includes:



  • Building out and managing development environments from the ground up.
  • Leading the crucial upgrade of our SQL Server from 2012 to 2019, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.
  • Proactively monitoring, tuning, and optimizing database performance for maximum efficiency.
  • Ensuring robust backup/restore procedures, disaster recovery plans, and effective patch management.
  • Implementing and managing SQL Server security, including roles, permissions, and encryption.
  • Working with high-availability solutions such as clustering, replication, Always On, and log shipping.


What You'll Do: SQL Development & Analytics


You'll leverage your T-SQL expertise to directly support business needs and drive data-driven insights. This involves:



  • Quickly understanding complex database structures to efficiently handle and respond to business requests.
  • Reviewing and optimizing existing stored procedures, views, and queries to ensure peak performance.
  • Analyzing data and creating compelling dashboards and reports using platforms like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Proficiently writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Developing ETL solutions using SSIS packages for seamless data integration.
  • Creating robust reports with SSRS.
  • Contributing to application integration, including building APIs and C# development in .NET / .NET Core.

qualifications:


  • Experience: At least 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience as a SQL DBA. We are specifically not looking for recent college graduates or individuals still in the early stages of their learning curve.
  • Technical Expertise:



    • Profound ability to write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
    • Expertise in performance tuning, index maintenance, and analyzing execution plans.
    • Skilled in backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery planning, and patch management.
    • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server security: roles, permissions, and encryption.
    • Demonstrable experience with high-availability solutions: clustering, replication, Always On, and log shipping.
    • Proficiency in ETL processes, particularly with SSIS packages for data integration.
    • Experience with SSRS for robust reporting.
    • Familiarity with application integration, including building APIs and C# development in .NET / .NET Core.
