Job Description:

Walmart is seeking an experienced Data Engineer III to support its VIZIO Data Lake Team. This role will involve end-to-end design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and high-performance data platforms using cloud-native technologies. Candidates must have hands-on experience with big data ecosystems, AWS services, and ETL/Data Modeling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable and reliable ETL/data pipelines

  • Design and implement logical and physical data models for analytics platforms

  • Work with structured/unstructured data from multiple sources

  • Ensure data quality, data governance, and security compliance

  • Support and collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams

  • Lead projects and mentor junior engineers

  • Stay informed about trends in data engineering, big data, and analytics

Must-Have Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Big Data platforms

  • Proficient in Python, PySpark, SQL, and/or Scala

  • Strong understanding of data formats: Parquet, Avro, JSON

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Services:

    • S3, EC2, MSK (Kafka), RDS, SNS, SQS

  • Hands-on with stream processing frameworks:

    • Spark Structured Streaming, Kafka, Storm

  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools:

    • Apache Airflow or AWS Data Pipeline

Good to Have:

  • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, or ThoughtSpot

  • Understanding of WCAG 2.2 AA standards for digital accessibility

  • Experience working in a large-scale, fast-paced retail environment

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor s or Master s in Computer Science or related field

  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of formal education
