Job Summary:
The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies across complex, high-spend IT categories. This role focuses on driving value through vendor selection, contract negotiation, and category planning-particularly for IT professional services. The Category Manager partners closely with internal stakeholders to align procurement efforts with enterprise technology goals and digital transformation initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:




  • Serve as subject matter expert for category strategy, execution, and governance.




  • Align sourcing strategies with IT service delivery and digital transformation goals.




  • Lead vendor evaluation, negotiation, and performance management processes for IT services (e.g., consulting, implementation, managed services).




  • Develop and track category charters, strategic roadmaps, and performance metrics.




  • Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, or cost savings.




  • Establish and manage strategic sourcing events (RFx), ensuring alignment with risk mitigation and cost targets.




  • Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders to clarify business needs and define sourcing priorities.




  • Recommend and implement process improvements that generate measurable business value.




  • Guide internal teams on procurement standards and vendor management best practices.




  • Manage multiple initiatives concurrently, adapting quickly to shifting business needs.




  • Present findings, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.




Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related field.




  • 7+ years of experience in IT procurement, category management, or sourcing.




  • Proven track record managing IT vendor categories including professional services and technology consulting.




  • Strong contract negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.




  • Experience with procurement systems and tools; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.




  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and lead cross-functional initiatives.




  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.




Preferred Qualifications:




  • 3+ years of experience using ERP systems such as SAP.




  • Experience supporting enterprise sourcing transformations or change management efforts.




  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.




Additional Info:




  • Travel may be required up to 15%.




  • This position may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and extended screen time.
