Description
Robert Half is partnering with a global e-commerce and technology leader to identify a skilled Technical Writer with strong editorial expertise and experience working with CMS tools, structured authoring frameworks like DITA, and markup languages such as XML or HTML. This role sits within a high-performing Content Operations & Strategy (COS) team focused on creating high-quality, user-centric content to support third-party sellers across their global marketplaces.
Location: Remote (PST or CST)
Duration: 12-month contract
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $30-32/hour
Overview:
You will develop, edit, and maintain scalable content solutions that enable selling partners to navigate complex systems, programs, and tools. You will collaborate closely with UX designers, engineers, product managers, and localization teams to deliver content that is consistent, accessible, and optimized for performance.

Responsibilities:
- Author, edit, and manage technical content in a structured authoring environment (DITA), using internal content management systems and tooling
- Translate complex technical and business concepts into clear, concise, user-friendly content for their selling partners
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, product, and localization teams to scope and deliver high-impact content
- Follow established style guides and editorial standards to maintain consistency across all documentation
- Develop and execute scalable content strategies that support business goals and user needs
- Review existing content to ensure accuracy, usability, and adherence to accessibility and localization best practices
- Track and meet quality goals, ensuring error-free, properly structured content across platforms and tools
- Support project management for content development cycles, contributing to continuous improvement of team workflows
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of experience as a technical writer, editor, or content strategist
- Experience with content authoring in structured systems such as DITA
- Hands-on experience using markup languages such as HTML or XML (2+ years)
- Proficiency with Content Management Systems (CMS) and content production workflows
- Strong editorial skills with a focus on clarity, consistency, and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with product and UX teams to write UI content and support user flows
- Background in e-commerce, tech, SaaS, or platforms with global customer bases
- Experience creating content for translation/localization and familiarity with multilingual workflows
- Working knowledge of SEO, accessibility standards (WCAG), and user analytics
- Fluency in or ability to read additional languages is a plus
- Strong collaboration skills with distributed global teams
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to manage multiple content projects and meet deadlines
