Okta Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Okta Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of our identity and access management (IAM) infrastructure using Okta. This role is pivotal in securing enterprise systems, streamlining user access, and ensuring compliance across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement Okta solutions including SSO, MFA, and Lifecycle Management
- Administer and maintain Okta tenant configurations, policies, and integrations
- Develop automated provisioning and deprovisioning workflows using Okta Workflows, SCIM, and APIs
- Integrate Okta with internal and third-party applications across cloud and on-prem environments
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to enforce IAM best practices
- Monitor IAM systems for performance, security, and compliance
- Respond to IAM-related incidents and audit requests
- Document architecture, processes, and configurations
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to IAM strategy and roadmap
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of IAM experience, with 3+ years focused on Okta
- Expertise in Okta Universal Directory, SSO, MFA, and Lifecycle Management
- Strong knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
- Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, etc.) for automation
- Familiarity with SCIM, REST APIs, and Okta Workflows
- Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance standards (SOX, HIPAA)
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Okta Certified Professional or Administrator
- Experience with other IAM platforms (Azure AD, Ping, SailPoint)
- Cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Background in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government)
