Position: Datawarehouse/ MSSQL + Azure Database Administrator {SQL DBA}

Location: Downtown, Chicago

Duration: 4-6 Months

Job Description:

Client is currently seeking an experienced MSSQL + Azure Database Administrator (DBA) to join its team

Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience

Responsibilities:

Manage and administer SQL Server databases across multiple environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability.

Design, implement, and maintain database security protocols and access controls.

Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring efficient query execution and system responsiveness.

Implement proactive monitoring solutions to identify and address potential issues before they impact system performance.

Conduct capacity planning to ensure databases can accommodate future growth in data volume and user activity.

Collaborate with infrastructure teams to scale database resources as needed.

Implement and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions, including AlwaysOn Mirroring, replication (Snapshot and Transactional), and Log Shipping.

Write and optimize complex T-SQL scripts and stored procedures.

Troubleshoot and optimize database-related issues using T-SQL.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates, gather requirements, and address concerns.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Experience:

Strong expertise in SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, security management, and backup and recovery.

Experience with HADR solutions, Azure cloud services integration, and T-SQL scripting.

Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident/Service Request/Problem/Change Management).

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure DBA Associate) are a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer-focused, service-oriented, security-minded, able to multitask.
