Azure Synapse Data Engineer/Architect

Duration: up to 3-6 months contract with possible extension (temp to perm)

Location: Houston, TX 77058 (Hybrid / Onshore / Remote)

Pay Range: $65 - $70/hr. The pay rate may differ depending on your skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.

Position Overview:

• We are looking for a skilled Azure Synapse Data Engineer/Architect with a strong background in data architecture, engineering, and analytics.
• In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions on the Azure Synapse platform to support our data-driven decision-making processes.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT, to ensure our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.
• Potential to direct hire following the engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and data storage solutions using Azure Synapse.
• Architect and implement scalable data solutions that meet the company's analytical and operational needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design data models, and develop data integration strategies.
• Ensure data quality, security, privacy and compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly in the healthcare and medical device sectors.
• Monitor and maintain the performance of data solutions, including troubleshooting and optimizing queries, data pipelines, and storage systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data architecture, processes, and best practices.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and other team members.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Azure Synapse, data engineering, and data architecture to continually improve our data infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Azure Synapse Data Engineer or Architect, preferably within the healthcare or medical device industry.
• Expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, including Data Warehousing, Pipelines, and SQL Pools.
• Strong proficiency in data modeling, ETL development, and data integration strategies.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure data services.
• Solid understanding of database management, data security, and data governance principles.
• Knowledge of Python, SQL, and other relevant programming languages.
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
• Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
