We're looking for someone to join the Software Solutions business line within 1898 & Co, part of Burns & McDonnell. The right candidate will show grit in learning new capabilities and solving complex issues for our clients. Our Software Engineers work independently and within project teams to provide purpose-built solutions using the latest technology.

  • Understands business requirements and translates those to technical solutions.
  • Works with project managers, business analysts and others to plan work.
  • Builds and tests applications within the software development framework.
  • Collaborate with other developers, analysts, and designers to develop new software programs and applications for external clients.
  • Supports applications and functionality once promoted to an operation environment
  • Research emerging application development software projects for procurement and development efforts.
  • Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Design and/or customize software for external client use to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Performs software updates and testing.
  • Write programming scripts to ensure functionality of software for assigned projects.
  • Schedule and perform software improvements and updates.
  • Collaborate with other developers across business lines to make technical recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all policies and standards

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited program or an Associate's Degree in Computer Science and 2 years of related professional experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of related professional experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge the software development lifecycle and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Preferred skills and experience:
  • Fluent in multiple programming languages: Typescript, Python, .NET preferred.
  • Database experience - preference is SQL Server or PosgreSQL
  • Familiar with REST APIs
  • Familiar with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and
  • problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to obtain applicable certifications.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
