Job Details

The Engineering Program Manager is an integral part of the Autopilot and Electronic Systems Engineering Team. This role will be responsible for managing product development programs for Tesla vehicle controllers. The primary objective is to ensure program success through planning, executing, and communicating, while driving effective collaboration of cross-functional teams within Tesla's fast-paced, mission-driven culture.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure engineering program goals, scope, and requirements are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with stakeholders
  • Create program roadmaps and detailed timelines outlining milestones, critical paths, and deliverables
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure timely program delivery through effective coordination
  • Ensure team efforts align with project goals, optimizing productivity by steering teams away from non-critical activities
  • Track engineering sample demand and supply, coordinating with supply chain teams to meet program milestones
  • Manage scope and schedule changes to minimize impact on program goals
  • Track and manage potential risks with mitigation and contingency plans to minimize impact on program timelines and deliverables
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are understood and managed
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates on program status, including key metrics, wins, challenges, and escalations
  • Continuously refine project management methodologies and implement process improvements for cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and program outcomes

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience in product development, ideally with experience shipping products in medium-to-high volume industries
  • 1+ years of experience in program management within an engineering or technical environment
  • Proven ability to rapidly grasp complex technical concepts
  • Strong attention to detail, coupled with excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • 3+ years of experience in program management within an engineering or technical industry, leading cross-functional teams in the design, development, and delivery of complex technical products preferred
  • Proven experience in leading system-level product development, overseeing end-to-end product development of complex hardware systems
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and refining project management methodologies to boost team efficiency
  • Hands-on design engineering experience in PCBA design or electromechanical product design is highly valued
  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding, die casting, stamping, PCB circuit design, PCBA debugging, or PCBA manufacturing, in high-volume production environments

      $88,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
